Turn your score into an aggregate

Your MDCAT score on its own tells you very little. The number that decides admission is the merit aggregate.

Aggregate = (Matric % × 0.10)
          + (FSc %    × 0.40)
          + (MDCAT %  × 0.50)

PMDC and the provincial conducting bodies typically publish results within a few weeks of the exam, ahead of the admission cycle. No date has been announced for 2026. Watch the portal of the body that conducted your test rather than a general news site.

My result looks wrong. Can I challenge it?

Conducting bodies run a formal challenge window after the exam, usually a few days, in which candidates can contest specific questions. Some questions get withdrawn as a result - UHS marked several as 'Deleted' in past cycles, and those are excluded from scoring. Watch your body's portal for the exact dates, because the window is short.

My aggregate is below the colleges I wanted. What are my options?

Apply widely rather than to a handful of top colleges - closing merits vary by several points across the list, and district quota or self-finance seats close lower than open merit. Private colleges and the NUMS route are separate applications with their own merit. A retake is also a real option: the syllabus is stable, and roughly 70% of candidates do not get a seat on their first attempt.

If you are retaking

PMDC kept the 2026 syllabus unchanged from 2025, so past papers do not go stale between cycles. Everything you revise now still counts next year.
