Frequently asked questions
Does this predict the 2026 closing merit?
No, and be wary of any tool that claims to. It compares your aggregate against the 2024–25 final closing merits. Cut-offs move every year with the size and strength of the applicant pool - Punjab merits shifted by roughly 1 to 2.5 points between the last two cycles - which is why colleges within 1.5 points of your aggregate are shown as "too close to call" rather than given a false probability.
Why are only Punjab colleges listed?
Because these are the figures we could source consistently: one province, one admission cycle, one seat category, all final rather than first-list. Published merit data is often a mix of first selection lists and final cut-offs, which differ by two to three points. We would rather show fewer colleges than mix incompatible numbers into a table that looks authoritative and is not.
What about district quota and self-finance seats?
Not shown. Those close several points below open merit, so including them under one number would be misleading. Check the official UHS prospectus for quota criteria - if you qualify for one, your real chances are better than this page suggests.
How is the aggregate worked out?
The official PMDC formula: 10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% MDCAT. Each component is converted to a percentage of its own total first, then weighted.
My aggregate is borderline everywhere. What now?
The MDCAT is 50% of the aggregate and the only part still in your control. A few extra marks move you more than anything else can at this stage. Practise with real past papers and full-length mocks, and apply widely rather than to a handful of top colleges.
